Solar Aircraft starts Six Day Journey

As reported over at my favorite Geek News site ars technica, Solar Impulse 2 began its 6 day five night stay in the sky as it flies from Nanjing, China to Hawaii. If its successful, it’ll not just be the first solar powered aircraft to make this journey but it’ll also be the longest successful solo flight by anyone ever.

  • Solar Impulse 2 In Flight in a test flight
  • SolarImpulse.com showing the track of the aircraft
  • Starting in China, to end in Hawaii

One of the neatest things is that their website is live broadcasting the flight, so we can view it as it happens. Its worth checking out!

Update: They landed in Japan due to inclement weather conditions, but still managed to set several records.
