Yep, that’s right folks. After Slashdot.org decided to inflict its Beta system on everyone (and recently changing the front page so that it doesn’t even resemble its former self), and after SourceForge started adding crapware to downloads, DHI Group (Formerly Dice Holdings, Inc.) has seen fit to put them up for sale.
To quote: “DHI Group, Inc., parent company of Slashdot and SourceForge, has announced that it plans to sell its Slashdot Media business, which includes the Slashdot and SourceForge sites.”
Perhaps they’ve finally realized that they’re mismanaging these former icons of Open Source Software and All Things Geek so badly that they are no longer relevant in the market they helped make. Can anyone raise them from the dead? I personally do not trust either site anymore. My Tech News comes from Soylent News, Hacker News, Lobste.rs, and Ars Technica these days. Whoever pick up Slashdot is going to have a long road ahead of them.
